Our Japan soccer training camp: Sparkle Football Academy players from Vancouver trained with J1 club V-Varen Nagasaki, Cemano Kobe and Ashiya Gakuen High School. Here is what they learned.
How to attack the gap between fullback and center-back: why width pulls the fullback out, when to run into the channel, and a drill to train it.
Line-breaking passes explained simply: what a pase que rompe líneas is, where to find the gap, the three habits behind it, and the drill we use to teach it.
How to break a low block in soccer: stretch the defense with width, move the ball patiently, and use the cut-back. Plus a youth drill to train it.
Wide center-back explained simply: why splitting your center-backs stretches the first line of the press, the three habits to teach, and the 4v2 drill we use at Sparkle.
Sweeper keeper explained simply: how a goalkeeper defends the space behind a high defensive line, the starting-position habit, reading the long ball, and how we train the portero libero.
